Hearsay
Publication and launch
The Australian launch is on Saturday 4 May at the State Library of Queensland, Brisbane. Auditorium 1, Level 2 at 4pm.
The New Zealand launch is on Friday 9 August in The Cloud at the Auckland Art Fair.
Hearsay is a collaborative project by Euan Macleod (artist residing in Sydney), Lloyd Jones (writer, Wellington) and Ron McBurnie (printmaker, Townsville).
This artist book is unique – a product of combined talents, a special art object and a remarkable insight into the human condition through images and text.
Hearsay is presented in 2 formats.
1. An edition of 10: 10 pages of etchings (etched and relief printed) bound as a concertina book measuring 900 x 600 mm, unfolding to a length of 3000 mm when installed.
2. An edition of 20: 10 pages of individual loose-leaf etchings.
Both editions are presented in archival boxes, handmade by Barbara Schmelzer, book binder. A colophon is included in both.
While the first format is distinctly sculptural, designed to stand upright for viewing, it can also be looked at directly from the box by turning the pages.
The loose-leaf format can be viewed as individual pages from the box or framed and hung in the order 1–10 as presented.
